Q&A Webinar: Finding Purpose, Passion, and Work Worth Doing

I’ll do anything to connect with and help people that are passionate about life, work, and making something great (even if you don’t know what it is yet).

The more conversation I have, the more convinced I am that the key to finding your own way has to do with taking risks and having courageous conversations. I’m also becoming more and more convinced that the best way to help people is to listen to the questions that you’re asking.

I can talk, write, and create all I want, but if it doesn’t speak to the questions you’re asking, then I’m wasting both of our time.

With all of this in mind, I’m hosting a free Q&A Webinar: Finding Purpose, Passion, and Work Worth Doing on Thursday, Nov. 20th at 4PST/7EST. Continue Reading

Cancer, Amputation, and How to Keep Going When Difficulties Arise

The last two weeks have been hard. Hard is an understatement, actually. They’ve been grueling. I’ve felt beyond capacity and empty.

They have been the hardest weeks of the past few years of my life.

A few months ago, my ever-present seven year old red heeler mix companion and side-kick, Lina, started limping.

We rescued Lina from a shelter 6 years ago. I wasn’t sure that I was ready for a dog, but Stacia knew this was the one. She couldn’t have been more right.

Lina has been with us through thick and thin. She’s road tripped across most of the US multiple times, moved three times, and always helps us remember to stay in the moment, to get outside, and (of course) to play more.

The limp wouldn’t go away, so we took her to the vet. That appointment turned into a series of appointments and eventually a biopsy.

I will tell you not to compare yourself to others.

I will tell you that what you have to create is your own and no one elses.

I will tell you to find kindness for where you have been— even if it’s not where you wished to go.

I will ask you to find places of impact and meaning.

You Need to Know How to Say No

- - Courage, Finding Your Work, Work

There are different kinds of “no’s”.

The first is when you weigh the options and choose that something is not for you right now. You make the choice that you cannot do the project, take the opportunity, give the time, etc.

You say no because you choose to say no.

The second kind of no is a no out of necessity. You say no because you’ve already said too many yeses. You’d be spread too thin if you said yes, so you must say no.

The Best Books on Finding Your Purpose (Updated for 2017)

I love books. After having moved several times in the last few years, I should say that I really love the library and digital books (I love my Kindle). I’m always finding new books and checking way too many of them out from the library (which I’ve found is a great way to rack up fees and support your local branch).

I peruse and read just about anything that I can get my hands on related to purpose, passion, calling, vocation, business, marketing, and writing. This is why my list grows way faster than I can keep up with it (just like my library fines!).
